2015 Wheelchair Events

There is a variety of wheelchair events held nationwide every year. Make 2015 the year you participate in a wide range of interesting and fun gatherings. You can also check with the city or town that you live in to learn more about local wheelchair communities, conferences, trade shows and even local meet ups that are happening around you. There is so much to do and see nationwide, your schedule will be full for the rest of the year!

National Veterans Wheelchair Games

The 2015 National Veterans Wheelchair Games is being held from June 21 through June 26 in Dallas, Texas. Veterans compete in games that show their zest for life, determination and strength. Games include archery, bowling, softball, power soccer, basketball, track and field and more.

Ms. Wheelchair America

Ms. Wheelchair America provides an opportunity of achievement for women who happen to be wheelchair users to successfully educate and advocate for the more than 54 million Americans living with disabilities. This year the beauty pageant is in Iowa and the crowning gala takes place on August 1, 2015. 

Abilities Expo

The expo introduces opportunities and innovative products to explore all under one roof. You will find everything you need to enrich your life including cutting-edge technology, gizmos, living aids, service animals, workshops and the latest inventions for wheelchair users. You can attend the Abilities Expo in Schaumburg Illinois June 12 -14, Houston Texas July 31 to Aug 2, Boston Massachusetts September 18 – 20 and the D.C. Metro area December 4 – 6. The entire family is welcome to explore the booths, have fun, test products and more.

Red Nose Wheelchair Race

Lancaster Pennsylvania hosts this shorter than 5 mile race that raises money for children and young people living in poverty on June 6. The Red Rose Run also includes a kids fun run and a wheelchair race.

The 40th Annual Fred D’Elia Ridgewood Run

The 40th Annual Fred D'Elia Ridgewood Run is held at Veterans Memorial Field on Memorial Day May 25th in Ridgewood, New Jersey. It is one of the longest running races in the area and includes 10K wheelchair racing. Advance registration is required. 

National Junior Disability Championships

Participate or cheer on competitors at this incredible event organized by the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The event is held July 18 -24 and includes archery, track and field and power lifting. This is the fifth time that New Jersey has had the opportunity to showcase this great event. United States Power Soccer Association MK Battery Premier Conference Cup

You can participate or cheer for your favorite wheelchair soccer players at this thrilling event being held June 19 – 21 in Tampa, Florida. Power Soccer is the first competitive team sport designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users. The United States Power Soccer Association (USPSA) promotes power soccer on a national and international level through tournament play, referee certification, training and growth.

MIUSA’S Fashionista Activista: A Night of Activism and Fashion

Mobility International USA hosts the Women’s Institute on Leadership and Disability program for an interesting and fun evening June 25th from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in Eugene, Oregon. This exciting evening features women activists from around the world. It is also your opportunity to wear your trendiest outfit.
